Describe the fitting by its feature directions
A hydraulic fitting is not defined by its thread alone. A straight adapter can combine turned diameters, an internal bore, a thread and a sealing face. A connector body can add a side port or cross hole. Before comparing machines, separate the drawing into axial features, radial features and any non-round geometry. This gives the technical discussion a more useful starting point than the general label “hydraulic fitting.”
Start with the stock and finished envelope
Provide the material, stock form and maximum stock diameter first. Then identify the finished length, largest and smallest diameters, internal passages and cut-off position. Include the applicable thread and sealing standard, together with the intended inspection method. These details help distinguish a primarily bar-turning discussion from a part family that needs further review of workholding or tool access.
Flag the details that change the process discussion
A fitting dominated by concentric features can be discussed as a compact turning route. A side port, cross hole, off-center feature or wrench flat can change the process requirements. Mark each feature’s position, size, access direction and any deburring requirement directly on the drawing. These details do not automatically select a machine model, but they give engineering a basis for checking tool clearance, clamping and feature access.
